Social Contract

Social contract... It's an interesting idea. Not as interesting as my theory about how we copy the pack structure of wolves into out social hierarchy. But still, the idea that there is an implied contract among society is quite interesting. We, from when we were little, have been taught that certain things are always wrong and certain things are all ways right. The social contract has been adapted, changed, altered, added to, and has had things removed over the years but it is always implied among society.

  1. Some people consider this fact a threat to individuality. A claim is that when you are born you are instantly labeled: you are given a nationality, name, race, religion, social status, monetary status, etc. These people have a legitimate problem with this, but philosophically their argument is completely valid. Shouldn't we as humans, who have both social and individual instincts and behaviors, be able to choose who we are.

Let's look at the gender fandom. Sure people want to be able to call themselves whatever they feel like, that's completely valid. But it's turning into this ridiculous trend to become "hip." The same thing can be for dying one's hair, tattoos, and whatnot. Granted many people take these actions as an extension of themselves (a form of expression), but there are a selected few that ruin the image for them, creating this illusion that kids these days are becoming messed up.

Hopefully this made sense. I'm not the best writer
